St Edburg's Church - Bicester
St Edburg’s Heritage Group
St. Edburg’s Heritage Group is trying to preserve the history and heritage of our beautiful old church while making it relevant to the local community today. All are welcome to attend our events, which are all free of charge and with refreshments available. We are always grateful to receive additional information and artefacts to add to our church archive.
St Edburg’s Heritage Group was formed to organise an exhibition for the national Heritage Open Days in September 2017, when we displayed items relating to both the church and St. Edburg’s School, under the themes of ‘Nurturing,’ ‘Serving’ and ‘Educating.’ The day was very successful and we followed it with two major events in 2018:
-
A celebration of ‘The ExtraOrdinaryWomen of Bicester’ and
-
An event, staged jointly with Bicester Local History Society, to commemorate the end of World War One.
We also opened the church to visitors as part of the first Bicester Festival. We continue to hold a variety of events with different themes.
The group consists of Janet Puddick, Julie Cordingley and Victor Puddick. We can be contacted via the Church Office in Old Place Yard, Tel 01869 323458 or email office@stedurgschurch.org
